Profile

Billericay Dog Training School was opened in the Spring of 1994 in Langham Hall, South Green after a need for dog training in Billericay and the surrounding area was recognised.  It was to be a place where people could learn to be responsible dog owners, teaching their dogs acceptable behaviour, in a relaxed and friendly environment.  Only kind methods were to be used.

By July of 1994 the school had outgrown its venue and found larger premises at Bullers Farm, Little Burstead.  Classes were only held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.  Due to further increases in membership, the school moved again in 1995, to Brock Farm, Ingatestone, where additional classes and one-to-one lessons were now offered .

BDTS's final premises change was to its present home in Wash Road, Noak Bridge in September 1997, which was again a larger property.  Classes were extended, offering more choice to its members, and additional trainers joined the team to extend the help available, especially to beginners and puppies.

Although the location of BDTS has changed, the methods remain the same - kind, reward-based teaching that is advocated by the Anglo American Dog Training group (to which the school is affiliated).  BDTS successfully implements this style of learning, without harsh choke chains and with plenty of encouragement and treats!  More recently we have become Kennel Club listed, offering the Good Citizen Dog Scheme to those enrolled with BDTS.

The current enrolment list is in excess of 500 dog owners and growing rapidly.
